Overlooking the Obvious

Anyone who has wandered around forests, forest fringes or even cities close to forests in the Indian Subcontinent would have definitely come across flocks of gregarious noisy birds hopping around on the ground as a gang, at times even bullying a lot of other small birds. A newbie like me to this fascinating world of Nature and Ecology gets fascinated by these birds, however I often find a lot of people especially photographers pushing these birds over the table to "concentrate" on the more celebrated species. We tend to ignore these "common" birds but personally I have experienced that it is these "common" birds that bail us nature photographers out from having a dull day at the office. In the picture are Jungle Babblers cozying up in preparation of the winter in the Ranthambore National Park in Northeastern India. They are locally referred as "Raan Bhai" meaning Forest Brothers due to their social structure of 6-10 birds banding together.

Common birds like these Jungle Babblers often gift you with such amazing moments
